Event Description
Talk – Weymouth Town Centre’s Brownfield Regeneration sites – Dorset Council’s ambitions
By Councillor Richard Biggs and Director of Property/Place Mr Jan Britton
Dorset Council inherited from its predecessor authority two potential redevelopment sites – the former Council Offices site and the former Ferry Terminal. In addition it has attracted regeneration funding (from the previous government) to acquire further sites – that of the former bowling alley and the former gas holder site on Westwey Rd.
It has expressed the ambition to secure development of the highest quality for these sites and has sought to interest private developers in entering into partnership schemes to secure this.
Recently, however, there have been notes of disappointment giving forth from County Hall about the responses received to date. The deputy Leader of the Council, Cllr Richard Biggs, who is the portfolio holder for property assets, and Mr Jan Britton the Director of Property/Place will be attending the meeting to update us on the current situation with these vitally important regeneration sites.
There’s no charge for this talk and it’s open to both members and non-members. Donations to the work of Weymouth Civic Society are welcome.
Refreshments available from 6.30pm and the talk is at 7pm.
