We are delighted to announce two new directors serving on the Board. Andrew Knowles and Richard Burgess who is currently buried under a house move, so we will hear more from him in the next issue.

Meanwhile, we asked Andrew to say a few words about himself.

“The heritage in Weymouth is incredible. I want to help us make the most of it – for visitors and locals alike. I’ve lived here since 2010, with my wife, Rachel. We’re writers of fiction and non- fiction, and I also write for businesses.

My hope is to be here for years to come and to make a small difference to the town. I’d like my enthusiasm for the history of Weymouth to help in protecting where appropriate and in developing new opportunities for others to discover what we have.

My particular interest, with regards to history, is the reign of George III. We came from Hampshire and before that, London. Going back further, I was a Forces child, growing up in many different places in the UK and beyond.

Rachel and I are part of the congregation that meets in St Mary’s church, Weymouth.”

Keen to get as much as possible out of new Trustees, we asked Andrew Knowles about his favourite buildings in Weymouth.

He said “The seafront terraces are always a pleasure to look at.” He attached a picture of Brunswick Terrace flying its summer colours. It’s hard to disagree…
